Bio

Malcolm St-Pierre is a Montreal-based filmmaker, editor, script consultant and researcher who has worked in documentary and fiction storytelling for more than a decade.

After studying history in college, he worked for several years as a researcher for Academy Award-winner Malcolm Clarke - most recently, on Clarke's theatrical documentary Better Angels (2019) and Artefact Entertainment's series The Best of All Worlds. These experiences introduced him to the editing process, and spurred him to develop his own projects.

His first film, Moustafa & Maram (2021), was a short documentary about a Muslim-American father and daughter in New York City. It premiered at the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs 2021). It was awarded a Silver Remi Award at Worldfest Houston, an Award of Excellence from Impact DOCS Now and Best International Short at the Lonely Seal Festival. In addition, it was screened at the Big Apple Film Festival, the New York City Independent Film Festival and Doc Utah.

As an editor, Malcolm has worked on award-winning fiction short films like Stephen Baxter's Rest Stop (2018) and Martina Adamcova's Trick & Cheat (2020). He has edited two feature films for Ms. Adamcova, the romantic comedies Hotel Limbo (2020) and My Wacko Parents (2021), both of which star the Czech singer and film star Lucie Vondráčková.

For Malcolm, every project that he devotes himself to is an expression of his love for film and storytelling. He is currently in production on a documentary feature about the life and work of Harlem preservationist Michael Henry Adams (working title: Mr. Adams). Additionally, he is restoring his father's 1974 silent comedy, The Modern Man. Finally, he is in the process of finalizing two documentary shorts - one about the makers of Rickenbacker guitars, The Frying Pan Factory, and another a short biographical sketch of the late academic Dr. Jack Shaheen.
