Bio

Malcolm St-Pierre is a Montreal-based filmmaker and editor who has worked in documentary and fiction storytelling for more than a decade.

He began his career as a researcher for Academy Award-winner Malcolm Clarke - most recently, on Clarke's theatrical documentary Better Angels (2018) and Artefact Entertainment's series The Best of All Worlds. These experiences introduced him to the editing process, and motivated him to develop his own projects.

His first film, Moustafa & Maram (2021), was a documentary short about a Muslim-American father and daughter in New York City. It was awarded an Award of Excellence from Impact DOCS Now and a Silver Remi Award at Worldfest Houston. In addition, it screened at the Big Apple Film Festival, the New York City Independent Film Festival, the American Documentary and Animation Festival and Doc Utah.

Malcolm is currently in post-production on His Last Dollar, a documentary about the last days of a beloved budget movie theater in Montreal. Supported by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, this film tells the story of Bernie Gurberg, the Dollar Cinema's lovable if eccentric octogenarian owner.

He is also in production on a documentary feature film (Mr. Adams) exploring the life and work of bohemian Harlem activist Michael Henry Adams. This film is being supported by the Maysles Documentary Center in Harlem and has been awarded a grant by the Graham Foundation in Chicago.

In addition to producing and directing films, Malcolm works as an editor. He has edited numerous shorts and two feature films. He also works as an editor for Toronto-based creative agency Cold Ice Creative.
